The Perfect Gift: Perfume Picks for your Nearest and Dearest

It’s the most wonderful time of the yearrrrrrrr. Christmas is once again upon us after what feels like 5 minutes since the last. Coles and Woolworths got on board 2 months ago; it’s our turn now.

If you’re anything like most people, you won’t have organised presents yet. “I have ages,” you think to yourself. Actually, you don’t. Christmas is a mere three weeks away and postage and wrapping needs to be taken into account.

Perfume is one of the easiest and appropriate gifts to give, well, anyone. It’s a luxury item most people don’t buy for themselves, and if they do they wish someone had given it to them. If you’re in the market for fragrance this Christmas, either for yourself or for a loved one, what follows is our failsafe favourites for all manner of relations-  our best-selling fragrances per target market.

MUM

One of the most popular fragrances for women is Yves St Laurent’s Opium. Belonging to the oriental family,  Black Opium is an addictive scent that includes electrifying notes of mandarin, cedarwood, vanilla and coffee. Since its launch in 2014, it has enjoyed success among women all over the world.

DAD

First thing’s first: don’t scare him away by calling it perfume. ‘Cologne’ is an appropriate way to refer to your Dad’s new scent, even if it technically isn’t. Also, refrain from referring to his cologne as his ‘new scent.’ That’s a no-go also.

Versace Eros is for early risers, lake swimmers, and mountain climbers – or those who wish they were. This racy, powerful scent is the essence of Versace and was inspired by Greek mythology. Fancy! Bonus: very popular among Dads.

Hugo Boss Bottled Unlimited is also a fatherly favourite. A lively scent with a crisp undertone, this impressive scent is made up of an energetic combination of grapefruit, cinnamon and musk.

Invictus, meaning invincible in latin, is packaged as a trophy; whether it joins a large collection or starts one, you’re bound to earn bonus sibling points for the flattery.
